Social Housing

The project in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s capital city, located in Bowenfield Region, is a project which is designed as 3, 4 and 5 storey buildings with an area of 126 560 m² inland, 82 blocks (1640 houses) with social housing concept.
The ground floors of the houses on the main street side were constructed as commercial areas. Considering the climatic conditions in the region, the main facades are arranged in the North-South direction, thus, the effect of the sun is minimized. The prevailing wind at the east-west direction is taken into buildings through natural corridors in the buildings to provide natural air circulation.

Elementary and High School Building

At the scope of the project, the school building of the district is designed for 604 students in the area of 4447 sqm. Class facades are designed in the north-south direction to minimize the effect of the sun. Different gardens are designed for different ages; also there are two sun-protected terraces, one serving teachers and the other serving students.

Health Care Center

At the scope of the project, the health care center building of the district is designed in a 1035m² area. On the ground floor, there are information desk / waiting rooms, a canteen, an employee’s dressing / rest areas in addition to an emergency department connected to the building’s parking lot and its own laboratory, sterilization room, plaster room and resting rooms. On the upper floor there are examination rooms, vaccination rooms and conference room for seminars to raise public awareness. The atrium at the entrance of the building is designed to both refresh the entrance and provide a vertical visual connection of the floors. The windows used on the facade were designed as the upper part of the culvert, taking into consideration the climatic conditions. Thus, a continuous air movement and natural cooling were aimed at without spending any energy in the structure.

Police Center

At the scope of the project, the police station building of the district was designed in a 485 m² area. It is compactly designed with building offices and equipment rooms, with a small detention and inquiry room inside. The atrium at the entrance of the building is designed to both refresh the entrance and provide a vertical visual connection of the floors. The windows used on the facade were designed as the upper part of the culvert, taking into consideration the climatic conditions. Thus, a continuous air movement and natural cooling were aimed at without consuming any energy.
